How do I sign-up for the try-out?
All players need to register for Try-Outs by using the Online Registration link below. For those players
that have been with Moline United (or already have a GotSoccer account), you should use that account to
register for try-outs this year. If you have forgotten your user id and password, there is a link on the
first page to help you. After you register your child, please print a copy of the confirmation page and
bring it with you to each try-out your child attends. For those players that are unable to register
online, you can use the Printable Registration Link below and bring it to the try-out. If you do not
have a GotSoccer account, there are links on the first page to set up a new account. Moline United
recommends setting up a family account to help you manage multiple children.

Is there a Try-Out fee this year?
For the Academy Teams (U8-U10), we do not require a try-out fee. For the Competitive Team we do require a $50
non-refundable deposit. Since we are condensing the main try-outs to just 2 days, we do not feel we can
appropriately assign players to teams. Since we cannot determine teams the night of the try-out, we require the
non-refundable deposit as your commitment to Moline United.
|
|
|
What happens to my try-out fee?
Your try-out fee is non-refundable deposit that states you are committing to a team. When you check your player
in at the try-out, you will indicate what age group and team you child is trying out for. If your child is selected
for the team you indicated and they play, the $50 try-out fee will be put toward your player fees. If
your child is selected for the team you indicated and you decide not to play, your non-refundable deposit
will not be returned to you.
|
|
|
Why is there a try-out fee?
In the past, we have had some players try-out for Moline United that decided not to play for the team they
were selected for. This causes many administrative issues for Moline United as well as other players and
parents that did decide to play. When players decide not to play after teams are already formed, it can
cause teams to be adjusted or not formed at all. The added stress on players getting moved around is not
fair to those that are committed to Moline United.

|
|
What if I have an outstanding balance from the 2010 - 2011 season?
All outstanding balances from the 2010 – 2011 season must be paid in full before a player will be allowed to try-out.
If you are unsure if you have an unpaid balance, you can contact the Moline United Treasurer at
.

|
What is the try-out process?
Try-Outs are schedule for 1 day for each age group. During the try-out, players will be evaluated on many aspects
of the game including technical and tactical situations. Coaches of a given age group will conduct the session
while coaches from other age groups will evaluate each player. Based on the evaluation from the coaches and feedback
from the head coach, teams will be formed.
|
|
|
How are players selected for a team?
During the try-out, players will be evaluated on many aspects of the game including technical and tactical situations.
Coaches of a given age group will conduct the session while coaches from other age groups will evaluate each player.
The evaluating coaches will select players based on the try-out up to the number of players that start for a given age
group. The head coach of an age group / team will chose the remaining players up to the maximum roster size.
This gives players the opportunity to be evaluated by someone other than their head coach. It also gives the head
coach the flexibility of selecting players for the team that may not have had a good try-out or were unable to attend
the try-out.
|
|
|
Will I need a new uniform this year?
Not necessarily. We will have the same uniform for the 2011-2012 season as we did for the 2010-2011 season. If
you have a uniform from the 2010-2011 season and it still fits, you do not need to purchase a new uniform. If
you are a new player to Moline United, you will be required to purchase a full uniform. The cost of a full
uniform is around $50.
|
|
|
Can I try-out more than once?
Yes. However, a player can only commit to one team.
|
|
|
What if I cannot make the try-out date?
If a player is unable to attend the scheduled try-out, they should still register for try-outs as explained above.
Those players should attend the Supplemental try-out scheduled on Monday, June 6. Please understand that the
Supplemental date will be used to fill any roster spots not filled from the scheduled try-out date. The Supplemental
date is also for all ages and may not give the player the best opportunity to display their ability.
|
|
|
What if I try-out gets cancelled?
If try-outs are cancelled for any reason, the make-up try-out will be on June 6. The schedule above will be
updated to reflect the change. However, players should anticipate that whatever the original age group and
time should have been, will be the schedule on June 6.
|
|
|
What do I bring to the try-out?
Each player should bring the following to the try-out:
* Copy of online confirmation or filled out paper form.
* 2 filled out copies of the Medical Release Waiver.
* 2 copies of birth certificate.
* 1 passport size picture of the player.
* $50 non-refundable deposit if not already paid online.
* Soccer ball.
* Shin guards.
* Water or Sport Drink.

Academy Teams (U8 thru U10)
Academy teams are the developmental ages for Moline United. These age groups will focus on the technical aspects
of the game with an emphasis on each player’s confidence on and around the ball. This will allow players to
develop the foundation of a good soccer player and enable them to progress more efficiently into more advanced
technical skills as well as the tactics of the game. Players in these age groups will still be evaluated with
the end goal of creating multiple equal strength teams for both boys and girls. Academy teams will play in a
local travel soccer league against other clubs in the Quad Cities area. Most league games are played in Moline,
East Moline, and Bettendorf. There are occasions when games are played in Geneseo, Dubuque, Muscatine, and Freeport.
Academy teams also have the opportunity to play in tournaments in Moline, East Moline, Muscatine, Bettendorf, and Peoria.
Decisions to play in tournaments will be based on a consensus from the parent group of the team.
|
|
|
Competitive Teams (U11 thru U18)
Competitive level teams are for those players that want to continue to play soccer at an increasingly higher
level. Teams are formed based on the ability of the players. Competitive teams will play in the local league
or other state sanctioned league depending on the level of the team and willingness to travel. Competitive
teams will be expected to participate in at least 2 tournaments which may include travel to Chicago, St. Louis,
and Des Moines. At this level, the expectation is that players be will attend all training sessions and that
soccer is or is becoming their primary sport.
