Academy Teams (U8 thru U10)
Academy teams are the developmental ages for Moline United. These age groups will focus on the technical aspects
of the game with an emphasis on each player’s confidence on and around the ball. This will allow players to
develop the foundation of a good soccer player and enable them to progress more efficiently into more advanced
technical skills as well as the tactics of the game. Players in these age groups will still be evaluated with
the end goal of creating multiple equal strength teams for both boys and girls. Multiple Academy teams will
work with a single Head Coach and individual team Assistant Coaches. Teams under a Head Coach will train together
at all times to ensure that every player in that age group are trained in a way to maximize the development
in the technical foundation of being a good soccer player. The Head Coach will also work closely with the
Assistant Coaches as a mentor to help them develop the needed skills as a Head Coach. During the Spring season,
the Assistant Coaches will begin to take on more of a Head Coach role with the continued support from
the Head Coach. As the team progresses to the next age level, the Assistant Coaches will move into the Head Coach
role to continue the player development. Each year, Academy aged players will be re-evaluated to allow for teams
to be realigned for equal strength. The benefits of this structure are that multiple teams are trained together
under a similar coaching style with the focus on developing their foundation as well as getting new coaches into
the program by allowing them to learn from an experienced coach.

Premier Teams (U11 thru U19)
Premier level teams are for those players that want to and can compete at the highest possible level within Illinois
and the Midwest. Teams may play in the local ILLOWA league or Premier leagues outside of the Quad Cities. 5 to 8
tournaments will be chosen to play against the best possible teams from Illinois and the Midwest which may require
additional travel to out-of-state tournaments. Premier level players may have 3 training sessions per week and will
attend extra training as needed (including winter training and camps). Training will be mandatory and will be excused
only by the Head Coach with prior approval. Players on premier teams consider soccer to be their #1 priority for both
the Fall and Spring sessions. Premier level players will have a higher player fee based on the added expense
associated with additional tournaments.

to develop the foundation of technical and tactical skills. Teams will play in the local ILLOWA league. 2 to 4
tournaments will be chosen by the Head Coach and Parent Group that best matches the overall ability of the team in
order to continue each player’s development. Travel will be within a 3 hour radius of the Quad Cities. Training will
be mandatory and will be excused only by the Head Coach with prior approval.
